Disney’s Newest Ship:

THE TREASURE

We recently attended the christening of the newest Triton-class ship in the Disney fleet, The Treasure…and I can’t think of a better word to describe it than magical.

If you’ve never tried a Disney cruise, it’s an absolute bucket list experience – not just for kids, because the way they think of every detail makes all of their guests feel like royalty. (I wrote about how they differ from another of my favorite cruise lines here, if you’d like to learn more.)

So what makes The Treasure different from other Disney cruise ships? Here are the highlights and features that really sets it apart:

Richer Colors and Themes

While part of the Wish Class and therefore similar in layout and features, The Disney Treasure shifts its overall aesthetic towards a more opulent palette. Stepping away from the jeweled and bright tones of the Disney Wish, the Treasure embraces earthy tones, gold accents, and deeper colors, creating a luxurious and immersive atmosphere. Each deck is also uniquely themed through colors and symbols for beloved Disney stories such as Finding Nemo, Moana, Aladdin, and Pocahontas, adding to the magic while helping you navigate the ship’s vast spaces.

Navigational Cues and Hidden Mickeys

Finding your way around the Treasure is easier than ever, thanks to clever design cues: on the hallways of each deck, unique motifs guide passengers forward. For example:

  • Decks feature bold and visible directional cues that let you know you’re facing forward, like schools of fish swimming or scarab beetles walking in one direction.
  • Hidden Mickeys in the carpet provide another charming navigational tip – if the ears are at the front, you’re heading forward.

The aft (rear-most part or stern) elevator areas are adorned with blue carpets, while the areas toward the front of the ship (the bow) feature a reddish-orange design. Along with the characters and themes for each deck that follow different Disney stories, these visual markers make orientation both functional and fun.

Themed Bars and Lounges

The Disney Treasure takes their meticulously themed bars and lounges to a whole new level, embracing immersive experiences that make you feel like you’re part of the story.

  • Haunted Mansion Bar: This atmospheric bar replaces the Hyperspace Lounge from The Wish with six detailed stories in one hour, complete with in-character bartenders. It’s an absolute must-visit for fans of immersive storytelling.
  • Skipper’s Society: Formerly the Bayou, this nautical-themed bar is full of subtle nods to Disney history. Look for the paddles marked “55” and “71” (references to Disneyland and Walt Disney World openings) and the life preserver labeled “718” (the Treasure’s hull number).
  • Periscope Lounge: Inspired by 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, this lounge features stunning underwater-themed decor. The ceiling, showing videos filmed at Epcot’s aquarium, gives the illusion of water with fish swimming above, while nearby gauges reference Disney’s fleet.

Grand Hall and Iconic Details

The Grand Hall is a showcase of elegance with its gold-infused chandelier, featuring six lanterns that honor each Disney ship. Each lantern includes elements like Ariel’s seashell and Donald Duck’s silhouette, tying the fleet together beautifully. I also love the detail of the stairs going down to the Grand Hall…they look like waves, and the carpet at the bottom of the stairs is designed so that it looks like the water has pooled there as it descended.

Other highlights:

  • The Rose Bar: Updated with golden decor to reflect the Treasure’s theme, while retaining its classic elegance.
  • Marvel Adventures: Featuring adorable Guardians of the Galaxy nods, this area is sure to captivate fans.
  • Concierge Level: Themed around The Lion King, with stunning artwork and luxurious accommodations.

Art and Storytelling Amplified

Every corner of the Treasure showcases Disney’s commitment to storytelling. From animated character portraits in hallways to meticulously themed staterooms, the level of detail is extraordinary. Our team can even provide information about the specific theming of individual staterooms when booking.

We absolutely loved the updates and I can say without hesitation that The Disney Treasure is a floating masterpiece of design, storytelling, and luxury. With its rich themes, thoughtful details, and innovative features, it offers an unforgettable experience for Disney fans of all ages.
