Icon of the Seas Sneak Peek
Part 3: HIDEAWAY BEACH
Welcome to Part 3 in my series on Icon of the Seas, the newest and largest cruise ship from Royal Caribbean. This week, I’m taking you on a tour of the new adults-only section of Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day Coco Cay: Hideaway Beach.
Ready for this incredible adventure? Icon of the Seas is filling up for the summer, so reach out here to book today.
If you’ve ever been on a Royal Caribbean cruise, you know that Perfect Day Coco Cay has several pools, attractions, restaurants, bars and other experiences for the whole family.
Hideaway Beach is the luxurious, upbeat, adults-only experience filling the space between the all-access, all-ages experiences at the Oasis Pool and the more exclusive Coco Beach Club. Here’s the inside scoop:
January on a cruise can be hit or miss in the Bahamas; it tends to be windy and it’s not typically that warm, which can be deceiving for first-time cruisers. It’s a great time to go though, because ships usually aren’t completely booked full and the price points can be better since it’s right after the holidays.
So what’s one super cool thing that really stood out about Hideaway Beach in January?
The pool is heated.
That sure was a pleasant surprise! None of us knew before we got there, and the heated pool overlooking the beach quickly became my favorite part about our day-long visit.
There’s also a DJ booth right on the edge of the pool, pumping incredible music that’s got so much energy – it’s definitely got that same Vegas pool party vibe that the Hideaway section on the Icon of the Seas has. It also has a swim-up pool bar; compared to the bar at the nearby Oasis pool, it’s probably at least two times the size.
You can sit in the pool comfortably with your drink on one of the many seats and loungers inside the pool. They have servers that come around and clear your drinks so you don’t even have to swim back to put your empty glass down!
Truly a luxury experience.
If you want to have a little more serenity and seclusion away from the party going on near the pool, there is plenty of space in Hideaway Beach, which is meant to accommodate 1,500 to 2,000 guests. The space will breathe very well with this amount of people; it has lots of comfortable chairs to lounge in and is truly spacious.
Hideaway Beach is also very easy to get to from the ship: you enter from the dock or the pier and it’s a short seven-minute walk. They do have a tram for people that don’t want to walk, but it is a lovely stroll right along the shoreline.
When you first walk in, there’s a bar overlooking the ocean and close by is The Hideaway Hut, offering fresh ceviche, coconut shrimp baskets, burgers, crispy chicken sandwiches, fresh salads and more.
The other dining option is the pizza place called Slice of Paradise, with some really creative pizza flavors; there are also bars everywhere, offering a wide variety of craft cocktails created just for Hideaway Beach.
Looking for a cabana? You have options! The first one is the Hideaway Cabanas, set behind the main pool area. There are plenty to choose from, where you can have your own private party as you enjoy the proximity to the music and refreshments. Your other choice is in an area with its own private plunge pool, called The Hideout. Both cabana options share the infinity pool, but offer completely different vibes.
So if you’re looking for something with an upbeat vibe, lots of space, great drinks and music and an escape from the kids and the masses at the main Oasis Pool, with a lower price point than the Coco Beach Club (one of our favorite places on the island), this is the place for you.
The additional costs will depend on the sail date, so be sure to reach out and we can find you the right one for you as you plan your adventure on Icon of the Seas.
